All Hazards Training Center (AHTC) at University of Findlay has a wide range of experts who can offer valuable insight and analysis on various topics related to the fields of environmental, health, safety and sustainability. Our experts can take complex ideas and make them understandable for your audience. These experts were selected specifically for you as members of the media – those featured are experienced and interested in responding to your requests.

Experienced in Railcar Incident Response
John Kayser serves as the senior director for the All Hazards Training Center, a position he has held since 2022. John has 24 years of experience within the Hazardous Materials industry. Previously, his duties with the All Hazards Training Center included conducting training courses and serving as the operations manager before assuming the role of director of operations for the AHTC. His experience includes conducting Environmental and Safety company audits; maintaining safety best practices; developing emergency response plans; and training in the areas of emergency response, DOT compliance, rail car emergency response, confined space, and incipient fire training. He holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Environmental, Hazardous Materials Management from the University of Findlay as well as a Master of Science degree in Environmental Management.
Prior to working for The University of Findlay’s All Hazards Training Center, he served as an ES&H Response Technician where his duties included conducted safety audits, reviewing and developing safety procedures and plans. He also served as an emergency responder on hazardous material spills focusing on railcar incident response.
Retired Law Enforcement
Tim Saltzman is a federal grants project manager for the All Hazards Training Center, with responsibility for the Rural Domestic Preparedness Consortium (RDPC) and Department of Transportation (DOT) training and funding, as well as other projects. Saltzman is an experienced executive with a 24-year career in criminal justice and law enforcement. His experience encompasses both experience at the local level (Fostoria PD, Wood County Sheriff’s Office, Hancock) and at the national level (National Security Agency).
Tim has worked in the private sector as the office services supervisor for Advanced Drainage Systems corporate office and as the director of Safety and Security/Athletic Director for Arcadia Local Schools. Tim holds an Associate of Arts degree in Criminal Justice from Owens Community College and a Bachelor of Science in Criminal Justice Administration from Tiffin University. Tim resides with his wife in Findlay, OH, and enjoys spending time with his four children.
Retired Fire Fighter
Dave Copus currently serves as operations manager for All Hazards where he leads the Center’s Open Enrollment classes and manages the Hazardous Material Training Grant from Public Utilities Company of Ohio (PUCO). He also manages multiple private-sector training projects. Copus is a graduate of the Ohio Fire Academy and began his career in 1980 as a firefighter with the Findlay Fire Department in Findlay, Ohio. In 2008, he joined the University of Findlay’s All Hazards Training Center as a trainer and also served as the training facilities coordinator for both our on-site and off-site Emergency Response hands-on training facilities.
Dave has extensive experience as a First Responder and as a manager of training deliveries and programs, delivering courses in emergency response, incident command, confined space entry & rescue, incipient fire, hazardous materials transportation, and client-specific training deliveries across the U.S.
