This is an awareness-level course for rural first responders – law enforcement, fire, emergency medical services, and EMA, local emergency planners and private maritime community stakeholders. The course equips participants with the basic competencies associated with port and vessel security and a working knowledge of maritime security appropriate to public safety responders in rural jurisdictions. Participants are given instruction on specific maritime security regulations affecting facilities and vessels (e.g., MARSEC levels, SSI, TWIC, etc.). Potential hazards in the dock and vessel environment are also identified.
This awareness-level course educates rural emergency responders on freight rail car incidents involving hazardous materials. Participants learn the potential hazards at a train derailment, properties of specific chemicals, and various incident control, confinement and containment techniques. In addition, participants learn damage assessment strategies to help interpret damage to rail cars in the event of an incident.
This is an 8-hour awareness level training course to educate administrators and personnel responsible for school safety/security, plus rural law enforcement, on effective response to school-based emergencies. The course emphasizes bringing potentially effected groups together in collaborative planning, preparing, communicating, responding, and recovering from an incident.
